As part of its long-term inclusive development vision, IWA-Liberia is advancing the proposed IWA-Liberia Village as a comprehensive and sustainable support hub for persons with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Planned on approximately five acres in Mont Barclay, Montserrado County, the initiative aims to bring essential services together in one safe, inclusive, and empowering environment.
The model draws inspiration from IWA's collaborating partner, the Debora Foundation in Ethiopia, whose Debora Village demonstrates the impact of visionary partnership.
Core components include an inclusive education facility, a healthcare and therapy center, a recreational and wellness center, a guest house for visiting professionals and families, and a temporary residential care facility.
The initiative will also include dedicated livelihood spaces for vocational training, skills development, and income-generating activities to promote long-term independence and sustainability.
IWA invites international organizations, philanthropic institutions, donors, and development partners to co-invest in this transformative national resource.
Through collaborative investment and technical partnership, the IWA-Liberia Village can become a replicable model for inclusive development across West Africa.
