Volunteer Opportunity

Classroom Buddy

Support inclusive education by volunteering in classrooms that include students with Down syndrome.

3-4 hours per week during school year
Partner schools and learning centers in Monrovia and nearby counties

About This Role

Classroom Buddies provide valuable support to teachers working in inclusive settings. You'll assist with activities, help all students engage with learning, and model positive peer interactions. This role is perfect for education students, future teachers, or anyone who wants to support inclusive education firsthand.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom activities as directed by teacher
  • Assist students with assignments and activities
  • Facilitate peer interactions and social inclusion
  • Help with classroom materials and setup
  • Model respectful, inclusive behavior
  • Communicate with IWA coordinator regularly

Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • Pass background check
  • Comfortable working with children
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Positive attitude toward inclusion
  • Able to commit for full school year
