When this family first learned their child had Down syndrome, they felt overwhelmed by uncertainty and social pressure. They were unsure where to find support or who would understand their reality.
After connecting with IWA-Liberia, they joined psychosocial and caregiver sessions that offered both practical guidance and emotional support. They learned how to navigate health referrals, ask informed questions, and advocate with confidence.
The family also joined community sensitization events, where they met other caregivers with similar journeys. This helped reduce isolation and replace fear with a sense of belonging.
Over time, the parents became strong voices in their neighborhood, helping other families understand that persons with Down syndrome deserve dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
Today, they continue to participate in IWA activities and encourage others to seek support early. Their message is simple: no family should walk this journey alone.
